Hello—I’m Betsy. I’ve spent my career making complicated technology easier to understand. I genuinely enjoy the detective work involved: asking questions, uncovering how a system really works, and turning that knowledge into guidance people can use.

I’m naturally curious, collaborative, and comfortable working with engineers, product managers, subject-matter experts, and other writers.

I have bachelor’s degrees in English and Interpersonal Communications. My additional training in teaching, coaching, and acting has shaped the way I listen, communicate, and think about the people receiving the documentation. I want to create information that people can actually use to accomplish their work.

I’ve often been asked to lead the development of information for cutting-edge technologies. When I work with a team of writers, I value clear communication and genuine collaboration. I want everyone to have a stake in the project and to know that their contribution is needed and appreciated.

More often, however, I’m the lone writer working alongside software developers and engineers. I’m comfortable asking questions, building relationships, and bringing clarity and structure to complex projects.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, I’m interested in remote senior technical-writing and documentation opportunities where experience, thoughtful communication, and a human-centered perspective are valued.
